Learn a few options for personalizing ornaments for Christmas using a Cricut. Personalizing ready made or starting from scratch. #FestiveChristmas #FestiveChristmasIdeas #ChristmasOrnaments #PersonalizedOrnaments www.domesticdeadline.com

Every year we add a new ornament with each child’s name and the year to the tree. I also like to have a family ornament. One day I will give each child all their ornaments from over the years, but the family ones I will keep. Some years I make them, other years I buy them. This year, I’ll definitely be making them. The more I use my Cricut, the more things I think to make with it! Using the Cricut to make or personalize ornaments is lots of fun.

Personalized Ornaments

Every year stores have lots of cute ornaments, some that really fit my children at their current stage of life. Or, ornaments that fit our decor, that I like (because sometimes mom just needs to pick).

Sometimes we select ornaments when we travel to remind us of a great family trip. Either way, I like to be able to indicate who’s ornament they are and the year.

With my Cricut, I don’t have to rely on my nice handwriting… and hoping I don’t mess it up! I have an assortment of fun fonts to select from. Depending on the ornament, I can use adhesive or heat transfer vinyl.

Wooden Ornaments

Using wooden shapes is another fun and easy way to make personalized Christmas ornaments. I always have lots of these on hand (that’s actually a better price than I paid for mine!).

Sometimes I will stain or paint these circles. This time I tried just starting with a layer of adhesive vinyl as a base for my design.

It looks a bit gray in the picture, but it’s just white gloss.

Sometimes I’ll start a design from scratch, but other times, I’ll just use a free SVG image or one that I have purchased through Design Bundles. This one happens to be a freebie from Design Bundles.

All I did was size the image, attach it and cut it out of red adhesive vinyl. Once weeded, I used contact paper to transfer the image.

All I need to do now is drill a hole for a ribbon to hang!

After I took the picture I noticed one of the dots was missing and another was in the wrong place… Since it had only been a few minutes, I was able to reposition the one. I figured I could drill the hole where the missing one is… but found it stuck to my elbow!

Layering the vinyl can be a little more complicated, but worth it!

I’m still playing around with the design of this one. Over the years I’ve had many ornaments break, so making them on wooden cut outs means I don’t have to worry about that as much.
