Day 5’s theme is dollar store crafts! Seriously, the dollar stores have been stepping up their holiday decor and I find myself frequently stopping in to see what I can use in my crafting. With my kitchen done, this was the perfect opportunity to add a bit of the holiday spirit to my favorite room in the house. I love the look of mini wreaths, but not the expense of the ones I’ve seen so far! Time for a little dollar store DIY.

Dollar Store Garland
I picked up two 15 feet long pieces of garland from my local dollar store.
Once I opened up one of the packages, it was pretty easy to see I would need to double up the garland to make it a bit fuller.
I cut each garland into 4 pieces, which was approximately two coils.
I simply twisted it over itself a few times to form the wreath. And repeated until I had 8 wreaths.
Ribbon and Hang
My dollar store had some really great ribbons, but I had plenty of ribbon on hand. JuneBug said she liked the plain red ribbon the best, so that’s what we went with.
After folding the ribbon over, I hot glued a loop around the wreath.
To hang, I made a loop at the other end of the ribbon and hooked it around a hook on the inside of the door. They were clear Command Strip light hooks we had leftover from the outdoor lights (and didn’t show up in pictures!).
Now my kitchen looks festive and closer to ready for our Christmas Eve party!
And, the red ribbons work with the red ribbons on my knit ornaments.
