Table for 40

For today’s theme, I went out and bought gold chargers and started brainstorming napkin ring ideas. With the kitchen newly remodeled, I’m already planning on getting new dishes. I also thought about pulling out my antique China… it’s been in boxes for at least 20 years…

But, the reality is, it’s just not my style to set a fancy table.

I try to have as stress-free of a holiday season as possible. The last thing I want to do is have to hand wash all that China on Christmas Eve after church.

So, I go disposable all the way for Christmas!

I have a few red knit baskets with white snowflakes. One of them is perfect for holding plates, napkins, and cutlery. The gold and silver snowflakes on the plates and matching napkins go nicely.

A few mason jars coral all the cutlery. Yes, I left the napkins and plates in the wrappers still, I’ll open them before my guests arrive.

I so appreciate a beautifully set table, maybe when my kids are older we’ll set a beautiful table for Christmas dinner. But, while they are young, we’ll continue to use disposable on Christmas Eve. For Christmas day, we’ll still be lounging around in our jammies, probably using any leftover disposable plates. Less dishes means more time lounge around and enjoy each other on Christmas day!

  1. I am with you on this one girl! With all of the beautiful paper plates available, it just makes sense to use them and be able to enjoy the party. My 'little ones' are all grown now so yes, we can set a fancier table now but when they are little, you can still make it special with the disposables!
  2. When you have an active houseful disposable dishes are a life saver. When my sons come home now, they always jump into the dishes as they know I couldn't have a better gift. Blessings to you and your and with 40 guests it must be awesome.
