Fun, easy wreath to celebrate Memorial Day, Flag Day or 4th of July. Using supplies from the dollar store. Plus, tons of other Pinterest inspired projects www.domesticdeadline.com

Another one of my favorite challenges each month is the Pinterest Challenge. We all pin ideas on Pinterest, but how often do we actually make something inspired by our pins? That’s what this challenge is all about. This month I decided to create a flag wreath. I’m excited to share as well as see what everyone else has created! Plus, the challenge is open for July if you’d like to join us.

Inspiration

A year ago I would have said I’m terrible at making wreaths. I don’t know why, but all my previous attempts didn’t end up with something I was too thrilled with.

But, the tides seemed to have turned and now I’m having fun making wreaths! I’ve actually made quite a few wreaths now. By this time next year, I expect I’ll have a nice collection to rotate through all year long.

This time I wasn’t inspired by a specific wreath, but a variety. More than a year ago, I shared a round-up of 11 Patriotic Wreaths, I really love all of them! Ultimately, I was inspired by these and so many other fun, festive, flag-inspired wreaths to create my own.Let your patriotic spirit shine with some awesome Memorial Day weekend ideas. DIY Flag Wreath

I found all of my supplies at my local Dollar Tree. The seasonal flowers are always fun. They aren’t the most realistic looking flowers, but there is always a large variety and they are perfect for wreaths. I grabbed several bunches of red, white, and blue carnations and a pool noodle.

With my pool noodle wreath form, I cut the flowers off the bunches leaving about a 2″ stem on each. And, just started poking them into the wreath starting with the blue.

Next, I alternated rows of white and red around the rest of the wreath.

That’s it!

Once I hung it up I decided it needed some “stars.” So using some baby’s breath flowers, I added them to the blue carnations.

I think I spent more time in the dollar store than actually making the wreath. It looks so full and fluffy! With my wooden flag,my front porch looks ready for the 4th of July.

Ok, it would look even better if we power washed the siding! Always something to add to the to-do list…
