I enjoy walking into a neat, clean, well-decorated room. Even more fun is when it’s beautifully decorated for a holiday or season. While I’ve improved at keeping my house neat and clean, I still tend to have clutter. At the end of the day, I’m tired. Picking up all the random things left around isn’t high on my priority list. When I get up in the morning, I’ve got things to do! Vicious cycle, but I am working on it. One trick that used to help me and I’m trying to utilize again, is changing the decor for the holidays or seasons. Probably not the most productive trick, but since it allows me to be creative, it does seem to help. Recently when I got out my fall and Halloween decorations, I just wasn’t feeling them. Time to change things up.

Inspiration

Pale gray walls and white trim is prominent in my house. The combo makes other colors pop, like teal, which I use a lot of.

When I found these darling pillow covers for only $6.00, I couldn’t pass them up. Admittedly I wasn’t going to get around to making my own anytime soon.

Suddenly, teal fall decor was all around me. Like this super soft plush throw and pumpkin tea towels I found at T.J. Maxx.

Ceramic and glass pumpkins were calling my name, but I knew I already had pumpkins at home, just not teal…

Traditional Orange

Maybe it’s the fact that it’s October and still in the 80’s. Or the kids growing up. Possibly the desire to have my house feel a bit calmer….

I’m not sure what. I wasn’t feeling the bright orange last year either. Much of the bright orange and black stuff I actually passed on to others. They felt too childish and had run their course with me. Anything paintable I decided to keep.

The “Happy Harvest” sign I scored at a dollar store many years ago. Solid and reversible! Sorry, I forgot to take a picture of the flip side saying “Happy Halloween” in orange and black.

I snagged some pumpkins from the Dollar Store a few weeks ago. Painting a burlap pumpkin teal got me rolling.

Waverly Chalk Paint is always on hand in my craft room. Agave is the perfect shade to coordinate with the new decorations I purchased.

A few quick drying coats is all it took.

Teal Halloween and Fall Decorations

Paint can totally change something up!

I turn the “Give Thanks” around until after Halloween when I switch the “Happy Halloween” out for the “Happy Harvest.”

Entering the living room feels much calmer now with the calm teal Halloween and fall decorations.

And, because Tasha really wanted it to stay, we kept an all black haunted house decoration too.
