It seems like a lifetime ago that I worked in an office. Ever since JuneBug was a year old, I’ve either been home with the kids or had a job with the flexibility to be there for them. I’m incredibly fortunate. Office careers suit some people, just not me! A dear friend of mine is one of those people. She has mentioned on several occasions how cold her office can be. I do remember always needing a sweater, even when the weather is scorching! Sandy showed me a shrug someone had made for her many years ago. It helped when it wasn’t quite cold enough to need a sweater but wasn’t quite the right size. Digging into my yarn supplies, I was able to create a crocheted office wrap. And, another great #CraftRoomDestash project!
Crocheted Office Wrap
For this project, I just kinda winged it. I did take some notes and am considering writing out an actual pattern. But, that’s just one more project to add to my growing list!
The center portion of the wrap was made long enough to just wrap around her shoulders. Using the same stitch as in my Easy Baby Blanket, I worked a dozen rows.
Next, I began working around the entire piece. The first row all the way around was simply single crochet.
To create the ribbed edge I used the front post and back post double crochet for 4 or 5 rows.
Once I was happy with the ribbing, I crocheted a long chain. Looping this chain back through the corner it came from to create a loop. Since the chain was nice and long, I wrapped the leftover around the loop to make the loop stronger. Then, I threaded the chain back into the corner and tied it off, weaving in the ends.
The button in the picture isn’t actually sewn on yet. I want to give Sandy a few options for buttons I have. We might even decide to go with a fabric covered button like I used in my Shelly Scarf and Hat set.
I actually could have used this at my daughter’s lacrosse game the other night. We finally had a beautiful warm day but once the sun went down it was just a tad bit chillier than I had expected.
The crocheted office wrap is super soft. Since my new tabletop light studio arrived, I was having fun experimenting with it. My photography skills have a long way to go, but I love that using this tool I was able to capture the exact color of the yarn.
