October is always a long month for my kids, it’s one of the few months of school with no long weekends. And, at the end of it is a fun-filled candy night! My kids all look forward to decorating the house for Halloween. When I heard of the Dollar Store Halloween Crafts Blog Hop, I knew it was a challenge the kids and I would be up for! And not just one, project! Check out the bat doormats I shared earlier this week.
Glowing Eyeballs
I have a love-hate relationship with dollar stores. O-Man loves dollar stores all the time. I can often use a trip to a dollar store as a reward.
He’d earned a trip.
And while he was deciding on his prize, he also made some suggestions for what he thought would improve the Halloween decorations.
Like these plastic eyeballs and solo cup battery operated LED lights:
Since O got his whittling chip from scouts, he’s always looking for excuses to use his knife. I had hoped he’d be able to help with this more than he actually was.
The first thing we did was to remove the plastic cups from the lights.
Next, we cut holes into the plastic eyeballs. I used the knife to start the hole and O rounded it out with a screwdriver.
With the holes made, we pushed them over the lights.
O-Man was very excited with the final results
