With all the extra time I’ve been spending at home, getting a jump on Christmas gifts is a good use of the that extra time. This past Christmas I made family name signs for a few family members. Not only did they love them, but other friends and family who saw them! Since I’m making more, I thought it would be a great project to share for the Christmas in July blog hop.

Making Signs
Despite the heat, I’ve been out in my garage chopping wood and making signs. And, finally adding some products to my Etsy shop and Domestic Deadline Market!

I love to make things and show other people how to make things (hence this blog, lol). But, I’ve always struggled with trying to sell my work. That doesn’t mean I haven’t sold my work, I just find it hard to put myself out there. Since I’ve had a lot of requests for things I’ve made and others have seen, I’m trying to push myself towards my goal of updating my Etsy and DDM shops.
What better way to have product examples, but to get a jump start on my Christmas list in July!
Family Name Signs
Here are the signs I made for family this past Christmas.

I set out to make another, in a slightly different style. And to photograph the steps for this post…
Only to realize as I’m writing up this post, that I accidentally put the wrong card in my camera. I don’t have any of my pictures!

Good thing I still have a few more to make! I promise to come back and update this post after I make the next one, and take actual pictures.

I love heirloom projects like this and what a great idea to give it as a gift during the holidays. Start working on them now right?!!! Thank you so much for sharing and wonderful hopping with you 🙂
A name sign is a great Christmas gift and it’s so much easier to make them before the Christmas season. I love them and I’m sure they will sell well in your shop.
What an awesome way to make gifts for family and friends! Everyone loves namesakes and especially signs that highlight their names! Very creative, Emily!
Your signs all look great. I’m putting this on my to make list for the holidays.
This sign looks great! Thanks for sharing this awesome idea. I may need to make something similar for our new home.
You’re really on the ball with already making Christmas gifts, but it works right in with our ‘Christmas in July’ hop. Your signs looks so good and I bet your gift recipients will be thrilled with their gift! Your leash holders in your Etsy store are super cute. I’m way behind on re-stocking my shop!
What a beautiful handmade gift to make for the family. Something they can display all year.
