I don’t think I have ever put my Christmas tree up before Thanksgiving. Ok, maybe one year we put the tree up the weekend before Thanksgiving, but that’s it. But, it’s 2020 and if there ever was a year to start the joy of Christmas early, it’s this year. And I was totally going to… then things evolved in my house… and we started a construction project, in the living room! So, I decided to get some festive outdoor Christmas trees!

Festive Outdoor Christmas Trees

When my son was small, he would climb everything. Our townhouse was small and he was into everything. To try to keep him from destroying our Christmas tree, I went with a small pre-lit tree I could put out of his reach.

That little tree became the perfect outdoor tree by our front door.

Except, that it didn’t stay in the planter very well and often ended up in the bushes when it was windy.

Two years ago I finally got a new tall tree. Nine feet, perfect for our ten-foot ceilings in the living room. But I had been so tempted to get a flocked tree.

But would a flocked tree be more of a fad or stand the test of time? I really wasn’t sure. Plus, it’s easier to flock a tree than to un-flock a tree… at least, I think. And the flocking can be messy… so do I really want that…

My solution? New festive outdoor Christmas trees that are flocked!

I found this pair of trees on sale and snagged them.

I do need to say, I thought they were outdoor trees, now, I’m not sure. But I am still going to use them.

Originally I was thinking of having them on opposite sides of the porch.

But, since I’m not sure if they are meant to be used outdoors (I have conflicting info), I’ll stick to keeping them under the covered portion of the porch.

My living room construction project includes dealing with our outdoor lighting and outlets. Until that is done, I won’t be plugging in the trees. I have also ordered covers for the cords and plan on bringing them inside if we are supposed to get major weather.

Eighty degrees with leaves falling and flowers still blooming was a very strange time to be starting to decorate outdoors for Christmas. But it did bring me a lot of joy to start decorating early!

The white flocking is fun and festive. Plus I love the touches of red berries. Once the living room project is done, IronFish plans on putting the outdoor lights up. Then we will finish decorating outside and inside.

  1. They are pretty trees, indoors or outdoors. After seeing all the flocked trees on this tour, I really want our next tree to be flocked. Our outdoor trees are naturally flocked. We got over two feet of snow on the weekend and it looks so pretty and festive.
