If you give a Fortnite fan a wooden llama ornament… he will turn it into Fred the Loot Llama! My son is just one of the millions of kids playing Fortnite on a regular basis. Currently, he’s all about Fred the Loot Llama. I’ll admit, I have never played the game, so all I know about the Loot Llama I’ve learned from a 10-year-old. Considering he keeps drawing me pictures of Fred, I knew he’d be excited to make his own Fortnite Loot Llama Ornament.

Inspiration
Every year the kids get an ornament that represents them. While looking for some other supplies for all the 12 Days of Christmas projects, I found a blank wooden llama ornament. Or, at least it looked like a llama to me!
O-Man started his ornament by drawing paint lines with a pencil and using his picture as a guide.
Then he started painting!
Letting the colors dry in between.
This kept him busy for quite a while! I should probably let him paint things more often. I’m honestly not sure which I think he liked more, painting or doing a Fortnite project! We’ll find out, he’s getting a How to Draw Fortnite book as one of his Christmas gifts this year.
Once he was done we decided the Loot Llama was missing one thing… a tail! Good thing I have plenty of yarn. We just stapled some on with a basic stapler.
Loot Llama Ornament
My kids all enjoy their art classes, but it’s been a while since they’ve gotten into one at home. We are finally getting a 9-foot tree this year for the living room, maybe I need to get some more ornaments for them to paint.
This will be an ornament I’ll date and keep for years to come!
The best thing is, no matter what your kids are into, they can paint an ornament. Even without an ornament in a specific shape (like the llama), have them draw on a blank wooden circle or square ornament. Or, paint a traditional Christmas icon in their favorite colors. There are so many options out there.
Spread out some paper to protect your table. With some acrylic paint and brushes, and this could be a great way for kids of any age to make Christmas gifts!
