As my girls have gotten older, they usually just want to shop for a few close friends at Christmas. This year Tasha asked me if I could help her make something she could give to several friends. Together we decided to make peppermint bath salts in snowman jars. I think this would be a great gift that kids of any age can be involved in.

Peppermint Bath Salts
Tasha is my 15-year-old daughter. She has struggled with eczema her whole life. Very little offers her relief (although she now gets injections which are finally helping!).
After some trial and error, we created a blend of bath salts that help. We grow peppermint in our garden and when it’s fresh, she adds that to her bath. When it’s not, she adds peppermint essential oils.
Peppermint just goes with the Christmas season. Making peppermint bath salts as gifts for her friends is the perfect plan.
Tasha and I make up large batches of her bath salts since she takes several baths a week. For the purpose of this project, I cut the recipe down.
In a large bowl mix together 2 cups each of Epsom Salt, fine ground Pink Himalayan Sea Salt and baking soda. Stir or whisk until well blended.
Add 15-20 drops of peppermint essential oil and stir again. We like a lot of peppermint, if you do too, add more and stir until.
Snowman Jars
Once the peppermint bath salts were done, Tasha and I moved on to making snowman jars for gifting the bath salts!
DIY Snow Globe Jars from Oriental Trading are perfect for this. Each jar holds the right amount for a bath. Pairing two turns them into snowmen!
Tasha and I initially were thinking of using these fun snowman faces cut on my Cricut. But, since I’m still new to this, I didn’t have all the vinyl on hand…
So, we turned to paint and a Sharpie oil-paint marker. This turned out to be a very easy and fun way for her to add the faces.
Of course, we had to give our snowman some official snowman clothing!
Here’s another place where we changed things up at the last minute. Tasha had planned on using felt and hand stitching a top hat. Felt can easily be cut into a scarf too.
But, sitting in a doctor’s office, I pulled out some yarn from my bag and crocheted a quick top hat and scarf.
Stacking two snow globe jars (hot glue the bottom of the head to the lid of the body) and adding the scarf and hat turned two snow globes into Snowman Jars for this fun Peppermint Bath Salts.
The recipient gets two tub soaks out of the snowman. Peppermint bath salts are great just added to a bath. But, if you suffer from eczema… add a 1/2 to full cup of apple cider vinegar to the tub with the salts. The combo is the extra step that makes these bath salts one of the two best home treatments we have found for her.
