Hint: it has nothing to do with fearing the virus! See why I'm enjoying my time at home with my family and how I plan to make the best of social distancing. DomesticDeadline.com

Last week I shared my first YouTube video. I’ve been crocheting since I was five but new to making videos. So, if you’re ready for the next step in learning to crochet, here’s my second video. Single crochet is the first stitch you need to learn.

Often abbreviated as SC in crochet patterns it is one of the basic steps in crocheting. I will share additional stitches next. Many of the more complicated crochet stitches are actually just a combination of single crochet, double crochet and half-double crochet.

But, we’ll get to that.

For now, here’s the video version of how to single crochet:

If you missed the first video, check out how to crochet a chain before moving on to this video.

Crocheting is something that has always helped me. Not only is it a great stress release for me, but it helps me to pay attention! My mind tends to wander when I’m supposed to be listening and paying attention to one thing. Yes, I’m probably ADHD like my son, it would explain a lot. Everyone expects me to be crocheting during church even!

But lately, I’m struggling. This pandemic has given me the gift of time. I have all the time in the world. But it’s passing me by and I’m letting it.

Originally, I had all these great plans. As the weeks have dragged on, I’m giving in to binge watching Netflix!

I’m going to push myself to get into my craft room today and record some more crocheting videos, hopefully, it will give me the motivation I need to stay busy with all this free time.

I’d love to hear what you’re doing with your free time!
