Even my big kids are enjoying playing with the little ones in this well made, completely customizable teepee from Teepee Joy. Product review www.domesticdeadline.com

My girls have grown to be close to my size. They are both about 5’9″! O-Man is still much more of a kid than my teenagers. At least once a week I find he has built a fort someplace in the house. So, when Teepee Joy reached out to partner with me, I knew there was still fun to be had with a teepee in our family. Since I was heading up to Linwood, I had them send the teepee to my mom’s house on Lake Erie. This way my niece and nephew could get in on the fun!

I was given the tent for free by Teepee Joy and am an affiliate with them. This means I may earn a commission if a purchase is made from a link in this post. However, it doesn’t cost you anything more. And, the content of this post and the opinions are all mine, I really do love their products!

Delivery!

I think by the time I arrived at my parent’s house the front porch was half full of boxes for me! Some of them were pretty big too. Knowing ahead of time the teepee was going to be a little over 5 feet tall, I was surprised it the box was only about half the length.

Turns out the wooden poles are shipped in two parts that join together. Assembly was so easy, my 14-year-old did it with my niece and her friend jumping around “helping.”

I did take a video of the assembly, however, I have to do some major editing. Part way into it, my sisters and brother-in-law can be heard in the other room. I can’t be sure their conversation is completely family friendly!

The whole assembly took less than 15 minutes even with all the help from two 4-year-olds!

The girls jumped in before Tasha could even get it all the way set up! And Tasha couldn’t resist joining in too.

Teepee Joy

Our cottage has a third-floor tv/playroom. Since we kinda like to be able to sit in the living room, we moved the teepee up there once assembled.

When my girls were little, they did have a teepee. My mom had found it at a craft show and it was so cute. We have already passed that down to other little ones. I liked that it was hand-made and at the time, thought it was awesome. While the concept is the same, I can’t believe how much nicer the Teepee Joy tent is!

And, Teepee Joy is handmade in America and is of superior quality! I noticed immediately how nice and durable the quality of workmanship is.

Like I said earlier, the poles come in two parts that easily join. Teepee Joy uses wooden poles that are nicely sanded. No rough patches. Our old teepee had PVC poles. The fabric on the PVC poles slid a lot, often resulting in the whole tent becoming wider and shorter.

Like our old tent, the flaps can be tied open. The opening to the Teepee Joy teepee is much larger, making it easier to get in and out of. That’s about where the comparisons to our old teepee end.

Because the old one didn’t have windows!

These darling windows also have flaps that can be tied up. All the kids decided immediately the windows needed to be open.

Teepee Joy also has the option to add a floor mat and pillows.

The floor mat and pillows coordinate beautifully with the teepee. One of the girls already asked if she could use the pillows on her bed at home!

Hours of Fun

My niece has dominated the time in the teepee since we put it in the playroom.

She has even gone as far as to say it’s only for the girls! Since her brother and O-Man have excluded her from several of their games, I guess it’s only fair.

My girls have been wonderful playing with their little cousin. She’s been making and serving them all sorts of yummy plastic food… Sometimes she serves them in the teepee and other times the teepee is her kitchen!

And, as usual in my family, all five kids (ages 16, 14, 10, 8, and 4) always, ALWAYS end up playing with the box something comes in……..

She was hiding in the box and trying to pop up and scare people! Then she and the box fell over so she started slithering around on the floor with the box.

Customizable

Teepee Joy offers over 50 pre-designed teepees. The Sailabrate Teepee is just darling.

It’s probably a good thing my girls aren’t little anymore because I’d really struggle with selecting the perfect one for them!

My son, on the other hand, immediately saw the customize options. He was initially disappointed they didn’t offer a Minecraft pattern and wanted a black teepee.

He’s decided the teepee is going to go in his room and will be his reading tent. He did agree the lighter teepee we got would be better for reading in, thankfully.

Here’s another great thing about Teepee Joy, after you fall in love with your teepee, you can even order curtains to match! So, if you’re little one loves pink flamingos, gray elephants, blue boats, or even coral giraffes, you can make his or her tent match the decor of their room too!

Since each teepee is handmade to when ordered, it does take 7-10 business days before the teepee ships. I’m totally envisioning a darling teepee set-up next to the Christmas tree… the excitement in a little one’s eyes… and the rest of the day spent unwrapping gifts and playing in the teepee!

  1. I love these teepees! My little lad would love but if only I had room in his bedroom for one! Thanks so much for sharing with #TriumphantTales, we'd love you to come back next week!
    1. Since they fold up, it's easy to put them in a closet or corner when not in use! That's what we have done with this one in my son's room
    1. We had long since passed one down to my little niece, but now my 5'9" daughters will chill out and read or watch movies on their tablets in it, I always laugh when I find a long pair of legs sticking out of the teepee! Apparently, it's good for all ages!
    1. The window really is great! I crack up that I can often find my 5'9" daughters with their legs sticking out of it!
