Often, a new year makes me want to clean, organize, and once again try to get my craft room under control. If you’re a crafter, you probably know the cycle — supplies multiply, projects pile up, and suddenly the room that’s supposed to inspire creativity feels a little overwhelming. So as part of my latest organizing push, I decided to create something just for my space: a personalized craft room door sign. This design is my contribution to this round of the SVG Design Squad, and the theme couldn’t be more perfect — Crafting.
Why I Designed a Craft Room Door Sign
As I worked through organizing shelves and clearing surfaces, I realized my craft room didn’t really feel finished. I wanted something that clearly marked it as my creative space — a small detail that made the room feel intentional and welcoming.
Designing a craft room door sign felt like the perfect solution. It’s decorative, functional, and a reminder that this room is meant for creating, experimenting, and sometimes making a mess.
Materials You Can Use for This Craft Room Door Sign
One of the things I love most about this design is how flexible it is. I originally designed it with laser cutting in mind, but I made sure it works beautifully with other materials too.
Vinyl on a Wood Door Sign
You can cut this craft room door sign from vinyl and apply it to a wooden round or door plaque. This option is great if you want a clean, polished look without cutting the entire sign shape out of wood.
Paper or Cardstock
This design also works well as a paper craft project. If you’re cutting it from paper or cardstock, I recommend cutting multiple copies and gluing them together. Layering the paper adds strength and durability, helping the sign last longer — especially if it’s going to hang on a door.
Wood or Laser Cutting
Ultimately, I plan to cut this craft room door sign out of wood using my Glowforge (as soon as I order more supplies!). The spacing and structure of the design were created with laser cutting in mind, so it’s ready for that option too.
Making Your Personalized Craft Room Sign
The free version of this craft room door sign SVG does not include text in the center, and that’s intentional. I wanted to leave the center open so you can personalize it to fit your space and style.
Here are a few easy customization ideas:
- Add your own text using any font you like
- Weld the letters into the center before cutting if you want everything connected, like the version I show
- Cut the name separately and center it inside the design if you’re using vinyl on a wood round
This flexibility makes it easy to adapt the design no matter which cutting machine or material you prefer.

Sometimes the smallest projects are the ones that make a space feel truly finished. Creating this craft room door sign helped my craft room feel more personal and intentional, even while I’m still organizing and rearranging.
