Even with the start of the 12 Days of Christmas, I have to keep working away at destashing my craft room! So there was no way I could pass up this month’s Craft Room De-Stash Challenge. So, in the spirit of giving, I decided to de-stash my leftover yarn with an easy stocking stuffer idea. With the return of the 80s and 90s fashion, scrunchies are back! With two teenage daughters and several nieces, all with long hair, these work up quick and make a great little gift.

Crochet Scrunchies
Select leftover yarn and a hook appropriate for the yarn.

Using basic elastic hair bands (link to my preferred elastics), begin crocheting around the band. Squeezing in as many stitches as possible.

Once all the way around the hair band, stitch 3 double-crochet stitches in every base chain.
All the way around.

That’s it!

Then just make more. To me, the best part is I can make several of these in an hour without paying much attention. So I can whip them up while watching a movie, sitting in church, or even when I let my 16-year-old practice driving!

Yes, I crochet during all these things. At church, it helps me not to let my mind wander. In the car, it helps me not tense up and let her drive!
Need Stockings
Crocheting or knitting stockings can be a time-consuming project. Definitely a labor of love, but maybe not for everyone.
Don’t worry, you can still enjoy the beauty and tradition of a beautiful hand knit stocking. Hand Knit Holidays has you covered!
My friend Meredith offers so many beautiful stockings including personalization. Just in time for Christmas!

Every month a group of bloggers are challenged by C’mon Get Crafty to create a new craft or project from their own stash of goodies! Everyone is allowed a $10 allowance for necessities to complete their project (i.e. paint brushes, glue, etc), but the bulk of it must be created from their own stash of goodies. Check out some awesome creations you might be able to make from your own stash! #CraftRoomDestashChallenge

This is such a great idea and a great stocking stuffer idea. I’m always impressed with those of you who can crochet something with ease.
Thank you!
What cute scrunchies! I bet those work up really quickly! Pinning -Marci @ Stone Cottage Adventures
They really do, I think I counted I can make 8 from start to finish including weaving in the ends in just an hour!
I can always use extra scrunchies! Pinning!
Recently heard in my house, “you’d think with all the scrunchies mom made I could find one to use!” lol
These are so cute! I love them.
I have heard scrunchies are coming back in style. These are perfect for teenage girls and stocking stuffers.
