This month’s SVG Design Squad theme is camping, and I created a design that captures exactly what camping should feel like — even if getting there isn’t always so peaceful. “Unplug. Unwind.” features two trees with a hammock strung between them, and it’s ready to download and use with your Cricut, Silhouette, or other cutting machine.
The “Unplug. Unwind.” Design
I’ll be honest, I didn’t grow up camping — to my parents, camping meant staying in a motel instead of a hotel. My husband is the one who actually took me camping for the first time after college, and I was willing to go on one condition: he handled everything and I got an air mattress. It was worth it though, because that trip included white water rafting and it remains one of my favorite memories.
Camping with little ones is its own adventure too. I still remember waking up to a very wet toddler in my sleeping bag on one trip. These days, my husband is the one who handles the actual camping trips with our son’s scouting group while I show up for the regular meetings — we make a pretty good team that way.
I’ll admit, as a designer, I’m a little obsessed with the layout and design of campers and RVs — there’s something so satisfying about how much function gets packed into such a small space. So while traditional tent camping might not be my thing, I’d absolutely be willing to try RV camping just to experience that clever design up close.
All of that to say, no matter what camping looks like for you — rustic and rugged, glamping with all the comforts, or somewhere in between — there’s something universal about that feeling of unplugging and slowing down once you’re out there. That’s exactly the vibe I wanted with this design. Two trees, a hammock strung between them, and a simple reminder to unplug and unwind.
And I don’t need to go camping to enjoy relaxing in a hammock!

- Electrostatic Mat (Silhouette) or Cutting Mat (Cricut)
- Weeding Tools
- Weeding Scrap Collector
- HTV Vinyl or Permanent Vinyl
- Heat Press (My preference when using HTV)
Ideas to Use “XXX” Free XXX SVG
- T-Shirt or Sweatshirt – Perfect for the actual camping trip or for those days you wish you were camping instead of at your desk.
- Tumbler or Mug – A camping mug practically demands a “Unplug. Unwind.” design on it. Great for coffee at the campsite or at home dreaming about your next trip.
- Tote Bag – Pack your book, snacks, and bug spray in a tote with this design. Cute and useful.
- Wood Sign — This design would be beautiful cut from vinyl and applied to a small wood sign for a camper, RV, or cabin.
- Pillow — Iron it onto a pillow for the camper, the RV, or even just a “we love camping” accent pillow at home.
Because the design is two simple silhouettes (the trees) plus the hammock and text, it cuts cleanly in vinyl and HTV alike, and it layers nicely if you want to add dimension with different colors.
